St. Robert's International Academy: "Then and Now"
By: Dr. Robert F. Galindez, Pesident
St. Robert’s International Academy was established in May 2004 as a TESDA institution offering Caregiver Course. The academy was blessed in its first location in Magalona Building along Ledesma Street, Iloilo City in May 2004 and occupied the campus until 2006. While in Magalona Building, St. Robert’s rented RBG Building along Lopez Jaena Street until the academy moved to Casa Plaza in 2006.
St. Robert’s in its Casa Plaza campus opened its PCU consortium where local students are able to acquire a Manila diploma from Philippine Christian University while studying in Iloilo. The program was made possible through an extension program arrangement of PCU being an autonomous university.
In 2009, St. Robert’s partnered with Sultan Kudarat State University and offered the Ladderized BS Nursing Program using SRIA’s Caregiver program as the base course in the ladderized offerings. Needing a bigger space, St. Robert’s moved to another Casa Plaza owned building the Cooper Building along Iznart Street, Iloilo City.
Greater leaps happened in Cooper Building. In May of 2010 the Dr. George D. Sorio Special Business High School was inaugurated and offered “… the first authentic special business program in the country”, according to a DepEd RO6 official.
In June of 2011 the DR. BERNADETTE CRUZ-ROSALES KIDDIE KOLLEGE FOR CREATIVE ARTS was inaugurated. Again, true to its global orientation, the academy’s elementary department is the region’s first creative arts elementary school – where pupils look forward to their monthly recitals; while their high school counterparts demonstrate their skills in Corporate communication, IT, and entrepreneurship in Culminating Activities.
In July this year, St. Robert’s will re-open its TESDA department by operating the PROF. KEVIN P. PIAMONTE CENTER FOR CREATIVE ARTS; and the DR. CURTIS L. DEBERG CENTER FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION. These centers will provide the in-house enrichments for the business high school, and the creative arts elementary school. But, at the same time will cater to pupils and students from other schools; entrepreneurs; business educators; and general public who wish to avail of our world-class programs in entrepreneurship and the creative arts.
S. Robert’s International Academy is blessed to have practitioners and innovators sitting in the Board. Dr. Robert F. Galindez, Dr. George D. Sorio, and Dr. Bernadette Cruz-Rosales are the pillars of the academy. Much of the innovations, and aggressiveness is attributable to these personalities who in their own right are successful entrepreneurs themselves.
The academy’s effective implementation is provided by Madam Dancel C. Sorio, and Prof. Mary June A. Galindez who painstakingly and creatively put the web of ideas into one SERVICE that is truly Robertine in character. The current breed of young Executives is equally efficient in providing world-class instruction and support thus, Robertine Transformation is made possible.
Moving forward, St. Robert’s will continue to lead the way towards Excellent, World-class, God-centered and Learner-oriented Learning for the Ilonggos and the world.
